Explanation;
Magnets are materials that have the capability of generating magnetic fields.
They repel non-magnetic materials such as wood, plastic etc. and attract magnetic material such as iron and steel.
Permanent magnets are types of magnets that whose magnetic field originates from the internal structure of the material used to make the magnet. These types of magnets are made from hard or ferro-magnetic materials such as steel.
Steel is an alloy that contains the main constituents iron and carbon
and may also have small amounts of elements such as nickel, vanadium etc.
It is the element iron that makes steel to have the potency of becoming temporary magnet since iron is magnetic
