Acid is a chemical compound that is sour taste in an aqueous medium and when diluted in water allows H+ ion action greater than purified water. A base is an aqueous substance that has a bitter taste which is sllipery to handle and gives electrons, receive protons or discharge hydroxide (OH-) ions.
