Answer:

As per the given condition:

A new shirt costs $14.99.

If the shirt has a sale for
(1)/(5) off its price.

Now, we find how much you save on this shirt:

First find the
(1)/(5) of $14.99

i.e,

(1)/(5) * \$14.99 = (\$14.99)/(5) =\$ 2.998

you have the discounted value is $ 3 .

You pay for the shirt is: $14.99 -$ 2.998 = $11.992

Therefore, you would save $2.998 or $ 3 in buying your new shirt.
