so total (G+E) is (=) 55
G+E=55
E=20
G+20=55
G+20-20=55-20

simplify
35:20 can be thought of as a fraction so
35:20 =35/20
factor out the 5 in each (35=7*5, 20=4*5) sp 35/20=5/5 times 5/4
7:4=G:E

Ratio was:
