In the 1600's, South Carolina agriculture included cotton, indigo and tobacco. Tobacco was the staple crop, with cotton not being as profitable until the invention of the cotton maker

In the 1600's, South Carolina agriculture included cotton, indigo and tobacco. Tobacco was the staple crop, with cotton not being as profitable until the invention of the cotton gin.
