To translate 4 units to the right, you replace
x with
x-4

So we get

g(x)=|(x-4)+2|=|x-2|

f(x)=|x+2|
to move it 4 units to right, subtract 4 from every x
f(x)=|x-4+2|
f(x)=|x-2|
