factor out -9
-9(x^2+4x+4)
what 2 numbers multiply to 4 and add to 4
2 and 2

-9(x+2)(x+2)

(-9x^2-18x)(-18x-36)
-9x(x+2)-18(x+2)
=(-9x-18)(x+2)
