The greates amount of pieces he would be able to use would be 9 because 8 divided by 5/6= 9 and 3/5.the 3/5 piece is too short.

Answer:

greatest number of pieces will be 9 that he can use.

Explanation:

Jamar has a piece of wood, 8 foot long.

He wants to build a step stool for his tree house by cutting the pieces of the wood
(5)/(6) foot long each.

Number of pieces of the wood =
\frac{\text{length of wood}}{\text{length of each piece}}

=
(8)/((5)/(6))

=
8* (6)/(5)

=
(48)/(5)

=
9(3)/(5)

Number of pieces will be 9 full pieces and a fraction of piece.

Therefore, greatest number of pieces will be 9 which Jamar can use.
