An infinitive is the base form of a verb plus B. the word to.
Here are some examples of infinitives: to sleep, to work, to play, to sing, etc. An infinitive is the most basic form of the verb, the one which you will find in a dictionary. Based on this form, you will then create some other forms, including participles, helping verbs, or some tenses.
