EXPLANATION

First we need to draw an get the distance between the points as shown as follows:

As we can see on the picture, the length of the rectangle is given by the horizontal distance, so we can consider the distance between the points A AND B as follows:

x-axis distance = length = x_B - x_A = 3 - (-5) = 8 units

We can apply the same reasoning for the width:

y-axis distance = width = y_B - y_C = 4 - (-3) = 7 units

Now, we have length = 8 units and width = 7 units

The area of the rectangle is as shown as follows:
