Given the equation of the hyperbola :

9x^2-16y^2=144

Divide all sides by 144

\begin{gathered} (9x^2)/(144)-(16y^2)/(144)=1 \\ \\ (x^2)/(16)-(y^2)/(9)=1 \\ \\ (x^2)/(4^2)-(y^2)/(3^2)=1 \end{gathered}

The hyperbola has the following :

1) x - intercepts are = ( -4 , 0 ) and ( 4 , 0 )

2) there is no y- intercepts

3) domain = ( -∞ , -4] ∪ [4 , ∞ )

4) lines of symmetry are : x = 0 and y = 0

\begin{gathered} a=4,b=3 \\ c^2=a^2+b^2=4^2+3^2=16+9=25 \\ c=\sqrt[]{25}=5 \end{gathered}

5) foci are the points: (-5 , 0 ) and ( 5 , 0 )
