4b+8=36
Subtract 8 from both sides
4b=28
Divide by 4 on both sides to get b by itself
b=7
7 apples were in each bag

36 - 8 = 28
Lizzy bought a total of 18 apples from the store.
28/4=7
There are 7 apples in each bag.
