400 is 1/10 of 4000, so the digit is 4

400 and 4000

Explanation:

Given number,

4432,

∵ 4432 = 4000 + 400 + 30 + 2

Value of first 4 = 4000

Value of second 4 = 400

Value of 3 = 30

Value of 2 = 2

Now, if the value of one digit is 1/10 of the value of the other digit,

Then other digit must be greater than the previous one,


\frac{\text{Value of first 4}}{\text{Value of second 4}}=(400)/(4000)=(1)/(10)

Except this the ratio of values of any two digits ( in which first is less than second ) is not 1/10.

Hence, the required value of the digits are 400 and 4000.
