Area = length x width

2 4/5 is equivalent to 2.8
3 1/2 is equivalent to 3.5

2.8*3.5 = 9.8

The area of a rectangle is multiplying the length and width.

So..

L x W = A
3 1/2 x 2 4/5 = 9 4/5

The area of the rectangle is 9 4/5 meters².
