Two heaps of rice are similar shape and contain 128kg and 250kg of rice respectively. The height of the bigger heap is 70 cm, find the height of the smaller one. I always get confused when trying this kind of questions .

SOLUTION

Let the height of the smaller heap be h

Since the heaps are similar it follows:


(128)/(250)=(h)/(70)

Solve for h


\begin{gathered} h=(70*128)/(250) \\ h=35.84 \end{gathered}

Therefore the height of the smaller heap is 35.84kg
