It takes about 2.7 pounds of seed to cover 1 square foot because 40 divided by 15 is 2.6666666666666666666666666666666666... if you round I you get 2.7.

It rounds to about 2.7 pounds. 40 divided by 15 = 2.6666667
I'm not completely sure if that's right, but I think it is.
