A cube has edges that measure 2 inches. how many of these cubes are needed to fill a 1 cubic foot box?

please give an explanation!!

As each of the dimensions are 6 times bigger (12 inches in a foot), to get the amount of small cubes you have to get to match the big one you have to get 6 times the amount for each dimension. So, you need to multiply each dimension (3) so you have to get 6³ boxes to get the bigger box 6³=216
