4x2−12x=74x2−12x−7=7−7(Subtract 7 from both sides)4x2−12x−7=0(2x+1)(2x−7)=0(Factor left side of equation)2x+1=0 or 2x−7=0(Set factors equal to 0)x=−1/ 2 or x=7/2
