A nautical mile is based on the circumference of the planet Earth. It is 1.15078 miles or 6076.12 feet or 1.852 kilometers
A mile is a unit of linear measure equal to 5,280 feet, or 1,760 yards (approximately 1.609 kilometers).

What is the difference between nautical miles and miles?
