Answer:

A criminal case is a case in which a person is accused of breaking the law while a civil case is a case involving a dispute between two or more people. Examples of criminal cases include murder, assault, grand theft auto, robbery, drug possession. Examples of civil cases include suing a neighbor or business, as well as child custody or divorce cases.

“Civil cases are generally brought by private individuals or corporations seeking to collect money owed or monetary damages. A criminal case is brought by the local, state or federal government in response to a suspected violation of law and seeks a fine, a jail sentence or both.
