Answer with Step-by-step explanation:

Carla and Ross competed in the long jump at a track meet.

Carla jumped 3.5 meters.

1 m= 3.27 ft

3.5 m= 3.27×3.5 ft

= 11.445 ft

i.e. Carla jumped 11.445 ft

Ross jumped 99 inches.

1 ft=12 in.

1 in.= 1/12 ft

= 0.0833 ft

99 in.= 99×0.0833 ft

= 8.25 ft

i.e. Ross jumped 8.25 ft

11.445-8.25=3.195 ft

Hence, Carla jumped farther approximately by 3 ft
