Graph the line using a point and a slope. Write the equation of each line. A line that passes through the point (0, –3) and parallel to another line whose slope is 2

Remember that

If two lines are parallel, then their slopes are equal

so

the slope of the parallel line is 2 too

Find out the equation in slope-intercept form

y=mx+b

we have

point (0,-3)

m=2

y=2x-3

to graph the line, we need two points

we have (0,-3)

Find the x-intercept (value of x when the value of y is zero)

For y=0

0=2x-3

2x=3

x=3/2=1.5

x-intercept is (1.5,0)

Plot the intercepts, join them and draw the line

see the attached figure
