1. Splitting the fiber strips resulting from hackling into strands.
2. Elongating each fiber by twisting it together with another fiber.
3. Twisting the elongated fiber pair in the opposite direction of twist used at splicing.
Spinning was a woman's work, or, among divine beings, a task for a goddess.
