On a coordinate grid, both point (3, 5) and point (−2, −4) are reflected across the y-axis. What are the coordinates of the reflected points?

Hello,

All you have to do is to take the opposite x value:

(3,5)==>(-3,5)

(-2,-4)===>(2,-4)

Answer: The co-ordinates of the points (3, 5) and (-2, -4) after reflection are (-3, 5) and (2, -4) respectively.

Step-by-step explanation: Given that on a co-ordinate grid, both point (3, 5) and point (−2, −4) are reflected across the y-axis.

We are to find the co-ordinates of the reflected points.

We know that

if a point with co-ordinates (x, y) is reflected across y-axis, then the sigh before the x co-ordinate changes.

That is,

(x, y) -----> (-x, y).

Therefore, the the co-ordinates of the point (3, 5) after reflection is (-3, 5).

And, the co-ordinates of the point (-2, -4) after reflection is (2, -4).

Thus, the co-ordinates of the points (3, 5) and (-2, -4) after reflection are (-3, 5) and (2, -4) respectively.
