Total purchase is $216.

To find:-

Rate of sales tax.

To find the rate of sales of tax. we need to divide the sales tax amount amount by the total purchase and multiply by 100 . That is,


(12.22)/(216)

So by furthur simplification. we get,


\begin{gathered} (12.22)/(216)*100=0.0565*100 \\ \text{ =5.65} \end{gathered}

So rounding off the rate of sales tax the value is 5.66%
