A cab charges $1.45 for the flat fee and $0.55 for each mile. Write and solve an inequality to determine how many miles Ariel can travel if she has $35 to spend.

$35 - $1.45= $33.55
Then divide $33.55 by $0.55

Let m be the no. of miles

So, Cost of m miles = 0.55 m

So, Total cost = 1.45+0.55 m

She has $35 to spend.

So, she can spend $35 or less than 35

So, inequality becomes :
1.45+0.55 m \leq 35


0.55 m \leq 35-1.45


0.55 m \leq 33.55


m \leq (33.55)/(0.55)


m \leq 61

Hence an inequality to determine Ariel can travel if she has $35 to spend is
1.45+0.55 m \leq 35 and no. of miles Ariel can travel is 61 or less than 61
