The Federalists view the Constitution as a safeguard to the liberty and independence the American Revolution had created before, so they considered this document essential to constitute a stronger national government.

Among other things, Federalists argued that national government only had the powers granted under the Constitution, that the Constitution provided balance through three branches of government and that the system of checks and balances si fundamental to the proper functioning of the three branches.
