the two numbers are 16 and -25

Explanation:

Let the two numbers be x and y

x+y=-9

x-y=-41

By substitution

y=-9-x

x-(-9-x)=-41

x+9+x=-41

2x=-41-9

2x=-50

x=-25

y=-9-(-25)

y=16
