Some friends decided to equally split the cost of gas on their trip. The expression 3g/4 represents how much money each person had to pay in dollars for g gallons of gas.

What does the expression 3g in the numerator represent?

The cost per gallon of gas

The number of people splitting the cost of the gas

The cost per person

The total cost of the gas before it was split between the friends

3g would be the cost per gallon of gas. And the 4 is because they are going to split it 4 ways because there is 4 people.

For this case we have the following expression:

(3g)/(4)

Where the variable g is given by:

g: number of gallons of gas.

Therefore we have:

1) The numerator of the fraction represents the total cost of gallons of gas.

2) The denominator of the fraction represents the number of people among whom the total cost of gallons of gas is distributed.

Answer:

the expression 3g in the numerator represent:

The total cost of the gas before it was split between the friends
