First of all there are three types of chemical weathering; oxidation, dissolution and hydrolysis. The causes are: Water - its the most important cause of chemical weathering, Oxygen - its also an important cause, Carbon dioxide - dissolves in rain water, Living organisms - examples trees, Acid rain
