first solve y

\begin{gathered} 5-y=3x \\ 5-y-5=3x-5 \\ -y=3x-5 \\ (-1)*-y=(-1)*(3x-5) \\ y=-3x+5 \end{gathered}

now replace x=-1

\begin{gathered} y=-3(-1)+5 \\ y=3+5 \\ y=8 \end{gathered}
