To balance a chemical reaction, it is important to remember that the elements in the reactant side has equal amount of the same element in the product side. The balanced chemical reaction should be:
CH3-CH2-OH + 6/2O2 = 2CO2 + 3H2O
C = 2
H = 6
O = 7
