At a certain high school, the ratio to left handed to right handed is 1:4. If there are 20 students in one class, how may are said to be left-handed? Please help me step by step. I'm in 8th Grade taking Algebra 1 and Geometry, but I don't know how to solve ratios

If you use a calculator it will give you the answer of 18.6

20- 1.4= 18.6

It would be 5 left handed, you have to cross multiply so
(1)/(4) = (x)/(20) then you cross mult. to get 4x=20 then divide 4 on both sides.
