False, the bison survived primarily through inbreeding or just limiting the gene pool due to previous hunting and loss of most viable mates.

Correct answer: False

Although the bison's populations have increased in numbers due to conservation, the original genetic diversity of the rest of the population is found to be low. This occurs when the population of a particular species falls greatly in the terms of number, it exactly happens in bison's population during the hunting period.

When a part of the population or species is lost, then it is not only the individual is lost, but their gene and its contribution to genetic diversity is also lost.

Hence there are chances that population survives and increases in number but their genetic diversity is lowered and it is a threat to the survival of the particular species.
