1.50 x + 2 x = 10.50

add similar elements:

1.50 x + 2 x = 3.5 x

3.5 x = 10.50

x = 10.50 / 3.5

x = 3 magazines.

hope this helps!

Answer:

3 magazines

Explanation:

You and your friend each purchase a equal number of magazines.

Let the number of magazines purchased by both of them be n

The cost of your magazine = $1.50 each

The cost of your friends magazine = $2 each

The total cost for all the magazines = $10.50

The equation to find the number of magazines you purchased

1.50n + 2.00n = 10.50

3.5n = 10.50

n =
(10.50)/(3.5)

n = 3

You purchased 3 magazines and your friend also purchased 3 magazines.
