You are shopping and have $20 to sepnd on a birthday present for your brother. You know he loves baseball cards, which are $1.25 a piece. You already spent $3.50 on a card and wrapping paper. How many baseball cars can you buy your brother ? (write an equation)

20-3.50=16.50
16.50÷1.25=13.2

you can buy 13 baseball cards and have $0.50 (fifty cents) leftover (remainder)

so the answer is 13 R. 0.20

1) total-spent=left over to spend on brother
1.1)20-3.5=16.5
2)left over to spend on brother ÷ price of baseball cards
2.2) 16.5 ÷ 1.25 =13.2
3) you can buy 13 cards and have 20 cents left
