Answer:

3 apples and 7 bananas

Explanation:

Let x=apple y=banana

1.75x+.7y=10.15

x+y=10

This is a systems of equation I that I will be using substitution to solve

x=10-y

We can plug this x value in for in the first equation

1.75(10-y)+.7y=10.15

17.5-1.75y+.7y=10.15

-1.05y= -7.35

y=7

This is our y value and we can plug this into any of the two first equations to get our x value

x+7=10

x=3

Which means he bought 3 apples and 7 bananas

Answer:

3 apples and 7 bananas

Explanation:

x = number of apples bought

y = number of bananas bought

he bought a total of 10 apples and bananas altogether. x + y = 10

Daniel and his children went into a grocery store and he bought $10.15 worth of apples and bananas. Each apple costs $1.75 and each banana costs $0.70.

1.75x + 0.7y = 10.15 - - - - - - - - - - - 1

1.75(10 - y) + 0.7y = 10.15

17.5 - 1.75y + 0.7y = 10.15

- 1.75y + 0.7y = 10.15 - 17.5

- 1.05y = - 7.35

y = - 7.35/- 1.05

y = 7

x = 10 - y = 10 - 7

x = 3
