Basically, the moon is made up of similar ingredients as the earth because it is formed from the same remains of an impact that destroyed the earth. Among the more abundant elements known to be present on the moon’s surface include, silicates, which are anions that contain both silicon and oxygen. The same way they are in abundance on the moon is the same way they are in abundance on earth and make up approximately 90% of the earth’s crust
