A 15.0 cm long cylindrical glass tube, sealed at one end, is filled with ethanol. The mass of ethanol needed to fill the tube is found to be 11.86 g. The density of ethanol is 0.789 g/mL. Calculate the inner diameter of the tube in cm.

The volume of the ethanol inside the tube can be obtained by dividing the mass of ethanol by the density. The volume is equal to 15.03 ml or 15.03 cm3. The volume of the tube is equal to pi d^2/4 * h where h is 15 cm. From this formula, the diameter is equal to 1.13 cm.
