take 1/2 of 1 and square it and add to both sides
1/2 squared=1/4, add to both sides

x^2+x+1/4=19/4+1/4
factor perfect square
(x+1/2)^2=20/4
(x+1/2)^2=5
square root both sides
x+1/2=+/-√5
minus 1/2 both sides
x=-1/2+/-√5

x=-1/2+√5 or
x=-1/2-√5
B is answer
