1.How can 10/3 be expressed as a decimal?

2.Karen has a self that is 23/2 inches wide How many books can Karen put on the shelf if each book is 1/2 inches thick?

1. is 3.333333333 because if you type 10/3 into a scientific calculator 3.3r will come up.

2. 23 because if you change 23/2 and 1/2 into decimals and divide the answer by the other - 11.5 divided by 0.5 you will get the answer of 23

10/3....simple division...10 divided by 3 = 3.33 with a line over the .33, because it is repeating.

(23/2) / (1/2)...when dividing fractions, " flip " the number u r dividing by, then multiply...make sure u flip the right number.

23/2 * 2/1 = 46/2 = 23...she can put 23 books on the shelf
