3(2b+3)^(2)=36
Dividing both sides by 3, we get:

(2b+3)^(2)=12
Taking the square root of each side gives two possibilities:

2b+3= √(12) =+3 √(2) \ or\ -3 √(2)
From which we get:

b=(-3+3 √(2) )/(2),\ (-3-3 √(2) )/(2)

Break out all the brackets and bring everything over to the left:

3 (2b + 3)^2 = 36
3 (4b^2 + 12b + 9) = 36
12b^2 + 36b + 27 = 36
12b^2 + 36b - 9 = 0
ab^2 + bb + c = 0

The quadratic equation:

-b +/- (square root of b^2 - 4ac)/ 2a

-36 +/- (square root of 36^2 - 4*12*-9) /2*12

When this is plugged into a calculator is gives you:

-3+2root3/3 and -3-2root3/3 which is answer B
