In electronics, rectification is the conversion of alternating  current (AC) to direct current (DC). This process can be performed by a diode which is an electrical entity that allows current to flow in one direction but not in the reverse direction. An application of rectification is the research-based development of higher frequency rectifiers under terahertz and light frequencies.
