The question asked about the values of x when y or g(x) is equal to zero. This is similar to asking the zeroes of the equation,
x ² - 10x + 24 = 0
If the values of x are a and b, the second term of the equation is the negative of the sum of a and b. The third term is their product.
24 = ab , b = 24 / a
- 10 = - (a + b) = -(a + 24/a) ; a = 6 ; b = 4
The values of x are 4 and 6. Thus, the ordered pairs are (4, 0) and (6, 0).
