A cliff is 600 ft above the ground. If an object is thrown upward from teh top of the cliff at an initial velocity of 48 feet per second, its height s after it is thrown is given by the function h(s) = -16s^2+48x+600

Explanation:

We can find the time it takes the object to reach its max height

At the Max height dh/dx = 0

dh/dx = -32x + 48

Since dh/dx = 0

0 = -32x + 48

32x = 48

x = 48/32\

x = 1.5secs

Hence it takes the object 1.5secs to reach its max height
