It couldn't be the first one, as adding to positive numbers cannot result in a negative number.

Adding two negative numbers could work, for example -2 + -3 = -5.

Adding a positive number and a negative number would also work, for example, 1 + -6 = -5.

It couldn't be adding a 0 and a positive number for example, 0 + 1 = 1 , this also counts for all numbers up because if you take a table with nothing on it and a water bottle for instance you have one water bottle.
