Which character is described in these lines?

"The man-ruler famous,
The long-worthy atheling, sat very woful,
Suffered great sorrow, sighed for his liegemen,
When they had seen the track of the hateful pursuer,
The spirit accursed: too crushing that sorrow,
Too loathsome and lasting."

Beowulf
Grendel
Hrothgar
Higelac

Hrothgar is the man who is described in these lines.
He was a famous king, whose men kept dying because the monster Grendel killed them all, so he felt a dire need to seek help from the great hero Beowulf.
