In basketball, Shaquille makes 40% of his free throw attempts. He goes to the free throw line to shoot one-and-one (if he makes the first shot, he gets to shoot one more). He scores 1 point per free throw. What is the expected value of the number of points he will score?

This question is a little bit tricky. Anyway, the best answer to the question would be 2 points. The expected value of the number of points he will score would be two points in every successful free throw attempt he makes. It just has a probability of .40 - which means that ,say, in 10 free throw shots, there's a tendency he will only make 4 of them.
