It is y= 8x As given, y varies directly as x and y is 48 when x is 6. So from the equation we can justify it. When x=6 y= 8(6) = 48 Now, if x=2 y = 8(2) y = 16

Answer:

y is 16

Explanation:

If y varies directly as x, and y is 48 when x is 6, find the value of y when x is 2

When y varies directly as x then
y=kx

where k is the constant of proportionality

y is 48 when x is 6, plug in the value and find out k

y=kx

48=k(6)

Divide both sides by 6

k=8

The equation y=kx becomes

y=8x

find the value of y when x is 2

y=8(2)= 16

So the value of y is 16
