First of all we need to remember why its called the Renaissance.
the word "Renaissance" is also borrowed in a way from the French word "rebirth" It was the time humans started questioning science. The love of Art and Education was a key feature to this time period.
Now that we have had our review lets dig deeper into one of the reasons why this time period was known as the Renaissance. My favorite example, was their wonders of Anatomy. Before people even knew that looking into the human body could benefit them medically, they used dissection to find out more ways to prolong suffering during execution. Yep! that's right they dissected a human being, but not any human beings, they were performed on criminals. Later on, they finally realized that they could use dissection for medical reasons, so by 1300's they were dissecting people to find out the reason for death. So you can imagine the questions by then...
Later in the fifteenth century, anatomists began to be employed as executioners... Things start to change because they realized how much they were learning from dissecting human beings. After this, Artists started accompanying anatomists during their dissection process. The artists believed that if they knew what the human body looked like on the inside then they could create better paintings of what the outside looked like.
But as for the criminals... the torture and pain was probably unbearable:(
Basic answer: Between 1485 to 1625 the questions with Anatomy become HOT! Dissection became a normal activity for improvement in Medical knowledge. This time period was one all about the love of Art and Education!
well anyways, hope this helps :P
